The Department of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) at Bangladesh University is one of
the most prominent departments of the university. It was established in October 2001, when the
university first began its academic journey. At that time, CSE was the only department in the
institution, and the first Vice-Chancellor was Quazi Azher Ali. The department started with a
small group of 17 students in its first batch, but over time it has grown significantly. Today, it has
the largest number of students in the university, reflecting its popularity and importance in the
field of technology education.
The CSE department offers a modern and innovative learning environment supported by
advanced facilities. Its laboratories are equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, allowing
students to gain hands-on experience in different areas of computer science and engineering.
Facilities such as high-performance computing systems and specialized research laboratories
provide students with practical exposure and help them develop technical skills necessary for the
digital age.
Another major strength of the department is its highly qualified and dedicated faculty members.
The faculty consists of experts from diverse academic and professional backgrounds who are
committed to excellence in teaching and research. They bring valuable industry experience and
real-world knowledge into the classroom and act as mentors who guide students throughout their
academic journey.
Research is also an important focus of the department. Faculty members and students actively
participate in innovative research projects in fields such as artificial intelligence, machine
learning, cybersecurity, and data science. These research initiatives aim to address modern
technological challenges and contribute to technological advancement.
In addition, the department has a strong and successful alumni network. Graduates of the CSE
program have become leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs in various industries both in
Bangladesh and internationally. The department also celebrates the achievements of its students,
faculty, and alumni, recognizing their contributions to research, technology, and society.
