Area of Interest
My research interest lies at the intersection of urban studies, human geography, and postcolonial urbanism theory – with a particular focus on public spaces as sites of political contestation, identity formation, and spatial justice.
I am interested in how postcolonial identity narratives, socio-economic dynamics shape the urban design, planning, governance and everyday use of civic spaces in Global South cities. My research also engages in diverse meanings and contextual understandings of publicness along with emerging forms of alternative publics including digital and virtual public spaces, to understand the new ethics and participation modes.
